fandom_counts

You guys, if you haven't done so already, I'd like to encourage you to have all your journals join fandom_counts, not just your main or personal one. That means any and all rpg, troll, personal, old, or whatever journals you have lying around. They're your journals, and part of the 13 million journals LJ is so proud of. Fandom_counts is basically keeping a running (and ever growing) tally on how many journals on LJ are owned by people involved in fandom.

It's completely true that six apart is perfectly able to delete, censor, or discourage whatever content they want to on their servers. It's their website, and if they want to create a community where not all content is acceptable, that's their perogative. However, I think it's important that they realize just how much of their user base is made of up the fan community, a community that will not be able to work in a place that does such censoring.

I'm still... really upset about this. Like I said, this is one thing that really gets me angry. I don't want to leave LJ. I desperately, truly don't want to. I have amazing friends here, many of whom I mainly or even only talk to through LJ. But I just can't. I can't be involved in an organization that can't distinguish between fiction and reality. I can't be a part of something that is doing the internet's equivalent of book baning and burning. Even if I'm not personally affected (and I do feel that, to some extent, we've all been personally affected) It goes against everything I believe in. So... yeah. I don't know what I'll do. I've gotten a greatestjournal account with the same name, and if it comes to that I hope you all will join me there, or at least check up on it every once in a while.
